Team Magnolia!

...our planning of 2nd Annual Grandma Debbie Day! For those who either don't know us well or haven't followed the blog all year, my (Michael) mom ran out of time in her fight against breast cancer in 1993. So, to celebrate her life and teach Kate about the Grandma Debbie she never got to meet, we have made it an annual family tradition to run in the Susan G. Komen's "Race for the Cure" (picture above is from last year). This year we have decided to start our own team, which is where all you that follow our blog come in. Team Magnolia needs you! There are roles for people in Lubbock, or who want to be for race day, and those of you outside of Lubbock. If you want to join us in Lubbock, we would love to put you up in our house. We will be making t-shirts for the event this year for our team members (see below) and for anyone else out there that wants one (all for a small fee of course, which will cover the cost of the shirt and donate some money to the Susan G. Komen Foundation). The shirts will somehow include our team name "Team Magnolia" and our motto "Live Pretty," which is a tribute to my mom and all the women in the breast cancer sisterhood. Which reminds me, you are welcome to race for anyone you know as a part of Team Magnolia; my family will be racing for my mom, but Team Magnolia is about celebrating all women and finding a cure for a devastating disease.

People in Lubbock:
I am the team captain for Team Magnolia for the Lubbock race, which will happen on October 3. In order to have a team, we need at least 10 people to join us to actually participate in the Lubbock race. We are going to run in the 5k race this year, but you can also walk in the 1 mile family fun walk. If you want to join our team, click the link below, then click to join a team, and type in Team Magnolia for the team name, which should bring up our team name and list my name as the team captain. It is $20 to race as a part of the team, which is actually cheaper than racing as an individual. Then, the goal is to raise as much money as you can for the foundation. Our team goal is $500, but it would be awesome to raise $1,000 or more!

People Not in Lubbock:
We would love for you guys and gals in other cities and states and countries (Canada has started to read the blog...not sure who you are, but we're glad you're following along!) to participate in your own local "Race for the Cure" as a part of Team Magnolia. You can buy a t-shirt and take pictures of yourself at your local race and we will post them on the blog. It will also be a great way to show Kate how much love and support there is out there for her and her Grandma. If you don't want to race, or if there's not one close to you you can donate to our Lubbock team. To donate to our team, you can click on the registration link above, click to donate to a team, and type in our team name. No pressure though! Only donate if you want.

Everybody:
As you join Team Magnolia, whether you are here or outside of Lubbock, your name will appear on our blog's list of team members (on the right side of the blog), and will include who you are racing for where you are racing. I will be giving more information later as it comes along. Live Pretty!
