...a boy and a girl. Twelve years ago yesterday Michael and I started dating. I was 17 and he was 18. I think we will draft a story where we were much older to tell Kate someday! A good friend suggested that we make a list of some of the things we have done in the last 12 years so here we go:
1. We skipped my senior prom to go to prom alternate with the church
2. I graduated from high school
3. Several Miss O attempts
4. OBU--Bachelor's degrees--dancing at the fountain
5. Lived in 3 states (OK, KY, TX) and lived in 4 places as a married couple
6. Blew up a car on the way home from Kentucky at Christmas (after driving 4 days through an ice storm)
7. Got Sophie, our beloved puppy
8. Master's degrees--Me -- University of Kentucky, Michael-- Asbury Theological Seminary
9. Buried loved ones
10. Missed family functions because we lived too far away
11. Started eating sushi (in response to being sad because we were missing family functions)
12. Mexico 3 times----ahhhhhhhhh
13. Realized San Francisco is our favorite place on earth thus far--mmmmm...dumplings from Brandy Ho's
14. Hawaii
15. Learned to make a vacation out of a conference
16. Grew a little wider!
17. Missed family desperately but knew we were where we were supposed to be
18. Got Stanley, our sweet little boy puppy
19. Made the front page of the Lubbock paper because Sophie won a dog costume contest
20. Bought our first house
21. Liked Lubbock, didn't like Lubbock, liking Lubbock again
22. Learned to make new friends--we've made some great friends actually. They are spread all over the place
23. We have learned how to rely on each other because that's all we've got most days
24. Almost finished with a PhD--one almost down, one to go
25. Zip-lined in Puerto Vallarta
26. We know where all the good bathrooms are from Lubbock to Lexington, KY
27. 4 couches--we like to buy furniture (3 beds too)
28. Cracker Barrel will always be special--on our way home from seeing my Granny Michael told me about his mom there and now we go with our best friends.
29. Our wedding day was amazing!
30. We experienced the devastation of infertility--probably the hardest thing ever
31. BUT--we got pregnant with a lot of help!
32. Celebrated the birth of Kathryn Helene, the light of our lives
33. Flew to Hawaii with an 8 month old and she never cried a time!
34. Celebrated a first birthday
35. We dream of celebrating more of those!
There are so many more things but these are a few. If you can think of things to add then leave a comment!
