Cindy Lou Who

....these pink footed pajamas with big colored circles on them that she wore last night. Wearing them with her hair in a faux-hawk I thought she looked like a Dr. Seuss character. She reminded me of Cindy Lou Who from "The Grinch," remember: "As the Grinch grabbed the tree, as he started to shove, he heard a small sound like the coo of a dove. He turned around fast and he saw a small Who. Little Cindy Lou Who, who was no more than two." Dr. Seuss is one of our favorites to read together; I love kids books that rhyme and have their own lyrical cadence.

We had fun with bath-time last night, so I thought I would get a few pictures. I also had to get one that would embarrass her when she's older. So, here are some pictures of bath-time from last night...

I know, I know, I know

....everybody being upset with me for not updating in over a week-and-a-half. Kate has officially entered the developmental stage when she knows mommy is not holding her and should be. It's okay when it's just me and her home in the evenings, but if Amanda is home it's mommy time. She also has a new sleeping position where she will only sleep with the blanket on her face. Scary, but she will keep messing with the blanket until it touches her face and then she can go to sleep. So, we check on her more than normal right now, but if we uncover her face, she fixes it right back...not really anything we can do about it. She has also discovered a cartoon--A cartoon, not multiple cartoons. The Backyardigan's is her show of choice, and just the song will make her stop what she's doing and smile. I have to admit, it is an okay cartoon to watch. We are avoiding the very annoying ones on purpose. Well, here are some new pictures from February:

Kate asked that I post this picture of her favorite cartoon characters Austin, Uniqua, Tyrone, Pablo, and Tasha...the Backyardigans.

Our Funny Valentine

...Happy Valentine's Day everybody! I took some pictures of Kate, Sophie, and Stanley this morning to show the love fest happening in our house this morning. Since I hadn't put any pictures of the dogs on lately I thought today would be a good day to give an update on everyone. Kate's MRI came back clear this week, so there are no problems other than the nerves in her left eye. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers everybody!!! Here are some pictures for Valentine's Day:

What an attitude...this was coming to my work to see me yesterday. Notice the tongue, glasses, and faux hawk.

Valentine's kisses from Sophie

As Promised

Here are some pictures from Kate's MRI.  They were taken about 2 minutes after her IV was placed.  She is truly amazing. I also had to post this picture of Kate and her favorite godmother. They both look beautiful.

MRI Update

...Kate having "the Palsy." She had an appointment with an opthamologist last week to look at her eyes. It turns out that Kate has 6th nerve palsy, or as we call it "the Palsy." "The Palsy" makes her left eye turn in severely--she is unable to move her eye past center to the outside. You can really notice it on some of the pictures on the blog if you want to look with a new focus. Anyway, we (and Steph and Brandy) like to joke about "The Palsy" some. We don't mean to make light of the situation, but if you can't laugh at life sometimes it won't be a very enjoyable life. So, the opthamologist required that Kate have an MRI to make sure there's not anything causing her "Palsy."

She had the MRI today, and in true Kate fashion, she took it like a rock star. She had to go in this morning fasting, which to say we were nervous about would be an understatement. Amanda fed her at 2:30 this morning instead of Kate's normal 7:00, but she did great and you would have had no idea she was off her schedule. She was smiling at everyone at the hospital. Even when she had to get her IV, she whimpered twice and then started smiling at the guy wrapping her arm even though she had a needle, tape, a restriction board, and tubes on her little arm. She could've cared less. She reacted fine to the sedative and slept through the 45 minute MRI. We have some pictures of her smiling with her IV, but for some reason I can't get them to load on the computer tonight...I will try again this weekend.

The doctors said they figured out why her head is so big during the MRI. Apparently this problem if left untreated can cause a lot of additional problems including nearsightedness, closed mindedness, snobbery, and a large ego. Here's the photo of the problem the doctors found on her MRI:

HA! Seriously though we don't know anything from the doctors yet, but we will let everyone know as soon as we do.

Baptism & Brandy

...Brandy, Kate's Godmother, visiting us from California for the week. We were waiting to do Kate's Baptism/dedication until Brandy could make it to Lubbock, so this was the weekend. We have been so excited for this day to come, and it did not disappoint. It was a great event and Kate's Lubbock friends came to support her. One of our friends, Nick, took video and Stephanie took pictures. These are some of the pictures from the weekend, both of Brandy and the Baptism. The video turned out good too, and I will try to post the video on the blog in the next couple of days.
