Oklahoma Surprise...Some Pictures.

...realizing I had some great photos from our unplanned trip to Oklahoma. We didn't take too many pictures but we managed to get a few. My favorite part of the weekend was surprising my best friend Jamie at church. She had no idea I was in town and I managed to keep it a secret, which if you know me you know how hard that is for me.

After church we were able to get together with friends a some family for lunch. It's so cool to be together as adults with our families. It is so great because no matter how much time goes by between visits it really just seems like we pick right up where we left off. It truly feels like home. That is something we miss VERY bad.

I am pretty sure Kate's favorite part was being OUTSIDE! Our yard is not quite ready for playing (more on that to come) but Granny's is! She wants to be outside with Ace, playing in their fish pond, swinging on the fort and now this:

The neat think about the 4-wheeler is that my Grandpa bought it when I was about Kate's age and I LOVED riding it with him. After he died my parents brought it to Oklahoma. As a teenager I spent hours riding it around the neighborhood. I can't believe it still runs and is now one of my daughter's favorite things to do with her Papa.
We have a busy couple of weeks coming up with a visit from Kate's godmother Brandy and my graduation. Of course we'll be blogging away.

Oklahoma Surprise!

...deciding to drive to Oklahoma for the weekend at 7:00 on Friday night. We hadn't planned on going home but really didn't have any other plans for the weekend, and thought why not! We didn't tell anyone we were on our way, except Amanda's parents so they could get Kate's crib ready, and rolled in to OKC about 2 a.m. Even though it was a very short weekend it seemed relaxing, we got to see a lot of people, and we all had a great time. Kate spent much of her time outside either swinging or looking at cows. We didn't get many pictures from the weekend, but did take a little video. It's back to work tomorrow, but Kate will be happy to know all the grandparents (and some aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends) will be in Lubbock in just a couple of weeks!

Jump! & Video

....Kate's new fascination of music and jumping. We went to the play area in the mall to let Kate blow off some steam today since all the parks in Lubbock are waterlogged. She loves jumping on things so much we found a small, exercise trampoline at Wal-Mart that is perfect for her. She uses the one at her school so much we figured she would love it. We were right. For proof, we have attached a video of the day's jumping.

What Happened?

...going through pictures on my computer to make room for new ones. Can anyone tell me what happened? I have been mindful of soaking it all in and not missing a minute of Kate. It's just going by so quickly.
Here are some of the pictures that caused me to wonder:

Kitty?

...Kate's continued love of all things furry. When we go to "Homa" my parents put their cat, Miss Kitty, in their room due to less than friendly relations between the pups and Miss Kitty. However, it is usually Miss Kitty who starts the trouble. Stanley has the scars on his nose to prove it.
Every so often Kate gets someone to take her to see Miss Kitty. However, Miss Kitty is not quite sure she likes Kate's visits. She usually hides under the bed. One of Kate's favorite things is look under the bed at Miss Kitty. I thought it would be cute to share some of the pictures. Also, take notice of Kate's cute little dress. My mom made it without a pattern. She's so talented.

More "Homa" Pictures pt. 2

Kate's new favorite face. The "wooooh" face. Easter egg dye--2.99 at the grocery store.

...needing to post the last of the Easter pictures (we posted 2 new in a row, so see previous post too). Forgive my old school American Express commercial reference. I think this went out of style about 10 years ago.

2 dozen eggs--$3.15.

Stickers to put on the eggs--$0.99.

Figuring out she could have more fun decorating puppies instead of just eggs--Priceless.

More "Homa" Pictures

...Kate's love of the outdoors, in spite of being sick. Like usual Kate was sick while in Oklahoma, or "Homa" as she says. However, that didn't stop her from spending most of her waking moments outside. It doesn't hurt that both sets of grandparents have great yards. My mom's yard looked amazing. Her trees were blooming and her grass was...wait for it...GREEN. That's something we don't get to see much here on the brown side of Texas. At Papa Ron's house there are cows. I'm pretty sure Kate will be a vet judging by her love of all things furry.

Easter Morning

...Easter morning. We took a few photos of Kate Easter morning and I thought I should post a few. We have so many pictures from Easter weekend we will be posting more.

Amanda managed to keep her still long enough to fix a pony tail.

Easter Saturday

Sometimes the future's so bright...

...Easter Saturday in Oklahoma. After the official Easter egg hunt turned out to be a parents-grab-all-the-eggs hunt we decided to take Kate to hunt eggs at Granny & Papa's house. She loved hunting eggs, and I foresee some rainy day egg hunting in the house this year. The funniest part of watching her hunt eggs is to see her sling the basket up on her arm and take off for more. Here are some random pictures of Kate throughout the day (more Easter pics coming soon).

Why can't I swim in the fish pond?

Hunting eggs

Her basket sling and carry technique. Impressive.

Easter Teaser

...coming to Oklahoma for Easter. It seems that every time we travel to Oklahoma Kate gets sick. We've been joking about it because it seems so Texan of her to get sick when she leaves the state. She is getting a little better so we thought we would post a few pictures so our blog readers do not get too mad at us. We'll post more in the coming days.
We took Kate to the Choctaw Easter Egg Hunt. Turns out it must have been a hunt for the parents because they picked up the eggs instead of the children so Kate only got 2 eggs.
