Vacation Day 1

...a long morning. We drove to Dallas the night before we were to leave. Thank goodness since our flight left at 6:30 am. It was an early morning, but, as usual, Kate was amazing. We were hoping she would sleep on the plane, but she was just too excited to go to "Mickey's house." We got to the airport in Orlando by 11:30. We had time to get the rental car, find our resort, drop off our luggage, and head back to the airport to pick up my parents. Well, it didn't go that way. We had the address to resort offices...NOT the resort. Oh well! Kate was able to nap the whole time in the backseat so it was no problem. We made it back to get mom and dad and head to the resort. We made it there by about 1. We tried to get Kate to take a nap but she was ready to go!

We quickly re-grouped and headed out to the Magic Kingdom. We thought we would just get our feet wet. Kate was so excited even though she had no idea what she was in for. We parked, hopped on the tram (or "white bus" as Kate called them), then got on the freezing ferry, and alas, we could see "Mickey's Castle." (Kate has no idea who Cinderella is, or most other princesses for that matter). It was so amazing watching her face as we approached the park. Did I mention it was only 50 degrees in Orlando? It was cold!



At the gate Kate was given a button that said, "First Visit." She was so proud of it and kept her hand on it all that night and the next day. It was so cute. Look at the pictures. In most of them her hand is on the button.



Once inside we headed down Main Street. We took a right at the castle to head to Toontown. I was so sure she would love Toontown. Well, we didn't make it to Toontown because she saw the Tea Cups! I wasn't sure how she would handle rides, but man oh man, she is a fan. We started out slow, but Kate wanted to spin faster. Michael and I were laughing so hard.



Then we made our way to the Dumbo ride. She rode it with her Granny, or "Ginny" as Kate so lovingly calls her. I am not sure who had more fun, Kate or all of us watching her. We saw the castle all lit up that night too, but we didn't stay long since all of us were pretty tired from a long day of traveling. Despite being tired, I'm pretty sure Kate didn't blink the entire time we were there. Her eyes were wide open in amazement.



This is just a warm-up for things to come. The trip was so great, and we made so many memories. I am excited to share more about it in the coming days.
